Freedom (And Its Conditions)

Freedom! (And Its Conditions) is a critique of the blatant neglect the healthcare system provides towards its outpatients. Following someone who has been released from a psychiatric unit, the film utilizes setting, color, and symbolism to highlight the grief that follows an experience that ought to be helpful but only prodded a larger loss of self. It juxtaposes the idea of “freedom” supposedly provided to the character with the prison of anxiety, isolation, and frustration that he is entrapped in.
